Dawnell believes that patient education is a key element in delivering high-quality patient care, and completed her doctoral research on patient health literacy, and the correlational impact limited health literacy has on patient health outcomes.
Dawnell holds two national board certifications; one with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a board-certified family nurse practitioner, and the other with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), with certification in Progressive Cardiac Care Nursing (PCCN).
